Showing some parts of image color
I know I'm getting old so I need some help. Sometimes the grandkids want the image in black and white but also have some selected objects in the image in color. I.e. someone holding a bouquet of flowers, the flowers are in color but the rest of the image is black and while.
Trying to figure out how to do this without too many steps.
thanks,

Check what is in the "Built in Pre-sets" and "Built in Styles" in the "Adjustments" > "Styles" menu (and other places).
You should find something there to use or be your starting point.

I would
(1) create a new layer.
(2) press B to get a brush to paint over just the flowers (or whatever) - press M to show the mask while you are drawing it then you can press it again to hide the mask when you are done. [ and ] can be used to change the brush size
(3) click the ... to get the menu for layers and choose Invert Mask - that way your layer is masked to everything except the flowers.
(4) Pull the saturation slider down to 0. You should get everything black and white except the flowers.
