How to show the original of the image I am editing right besides it so I can compare?

  This functionality does not exist in C1.
  
  You have to create a clone (without any settings applied) and then you can compare in a before/after way.

  This is also known as a New Variant.

  Variants are also useful for comparing multiple images at different point of your edit workflow or when considering different edit approaches to an image. That, I find, can be much more useful than comparing with the just the original image.
