51000 Files and What I have learned

I know there has been some discussion about a supposed 10k file catalog limit.I am currently at 51000 files and here is what I have learned.
C1 can easily handle over 10k without an issue as far as Im concerned. Editing and browsing performance is still fantastic.The only slow down I have seen is launching and initially rendering previews or importing metadata.
A few tips:
1, Let C1 render and sync all the images and metadata before you really start using the images. I will select "All Images" and this will almost force C1 to render all previews and import MetaData. Once I let C1 render the images, everything works as it has been all along
2, Filers and smart albums work great but if you select "All Images" you may see a serious lag. I let C1 finish thinking then all will be well.
3, Import smaller chunks of data and don't import an existing Aperture or Lightroom library. This failed for me every time. I stuck to about 3000 - 5000 files to import at a time.
I don't have more images to import at the moment so I can't really say where it will go from here. So far it has been flawless. I will say that I hesitate to import the 500,000 images in my Lightroom library. Not sure I have the time it will take to render all those previews.
I realize this isn't a comprehensive test by any means. Its just my personal experience and may inspire you to give a larger Catalog a try.

I concur, with 46,000 images in c1 v10.1 catalog on MacBook Pro i7 16GB ram and 1TB SSD with referenced originals on external 2 TB HDD my experience is pretty much the same as you describe. In v10.1 other than a lag at startup( which is dependent on the number of images in the folder I was in, when I last shutdown C 1), the initial rebuild of previews and about a 55 second lag the very first time I go into all images after starting c1.... pretty much same experience re v10.1 ...all is good!!!

Currently running a catalog with 108k pictures.
speed is ok, but could be improve. v10.1 is a lot fo slower importing pictures than 10.0.x.
