Canon 1d mark IIN generic profile is BAD
I'm testing the C1 pro software with a 5D and a 1D mark IIN. Pictures shot with the 5D are all correctable. The 1D files are missing a lot of color saturation. The 1d files need a minimal cs +20 correction to get it result similar to the 5d..
Is this a profile (both generic) error or is the 1d bad in colors.
Has anyone a better profile or a adjusted one
In the canon software the default results are nearly the same.

RichardBerlijn,
I was hoping others using the N would weigh in here... I searched our Support Cases for any N model issues and none involve color problems.
Are all users happy? who knows... but variables include what you are setting for in-camera White Balance between these 2 camera models as you test.
The N actually has 2 profiles to choose, generic and sunset
Generic should load automatically from meta data, but worth a check at the Color Management settings. The 5D only has Generic profile available.
With PRO version there is the ability to adjust the Generic profile in the Color Editor and make your own custom profile. May be that is what others have done.

I have to agree with Richard, the profiles aren't good. I just use my Magne 1D Mark II profiles with the N images and I get much better results. While not perfect it is a much better profile IMHO.

Dan,
I orderd today the magne profiles for the 1dmark II and the 5d. As soon i've them here I let you know the results.0 -
Richard,
I am actually using both 1DMark II and 5D Magne profiles, they both seem better than the C1 Profiles. If only Magne would release the 1DMark II N profiles I would be happy.0 -
I've recieved the profiles. The difference between the 5d generic and the magne profile are not that big but better but they show a improvment in some colors. The difference between the 1d mark II N generic and the magne 1d mark II is a real big change upwards.
I've you don't have the Magne profiles a better alternative for the generic is the sunset profile.
Is there a difference between the 1d mark II and the N camera chip output?0 -
I have been fighting flat dull colors also with my new 1ds mark 2.
I have ordered the other profiles and hope they work becuase going back to PS is too slow but has much better color.
Seems like the profile should be redone in capture one so you don't need to buy other profiles to use the program after buying it.0 -
I got my profiles from Magne and wow what a difference.
That's the way my pictures are suppose to come out,
I highly recommend the Magne profiles to anyone having problems with dull or flat color from Canon 1D- Ds mark 2 profiles in C10 -
The capability exists in Capture One PRO to get exactly the color output desired, Dead On ...as they say.
Color Editor allows one to customize the generic profile to become their very own. Users who don't have PRO or don't want to create their own in PRO can buy from other sources.
Cheers,

I looked into this forum for this exact topic.
I agree that the generic profile for the 1D2N sucks for the reasons mentioned. I have both the \"N\" and non-N versions of the 1D2, but have been lately sticking with the original camera because of the colors from C1.
The C1 version 2 generic profile for the 1D2 (non-N) when used with files from that camera look great to me. I just wish there was a comparable color profile for the \"N\". I've tried other color profiles with the \"N\", including the one from Magne, but they all need a lot of tweaking.
I have the LE version of C1. Even though I'm happy with it in all other aspects, it sounds like I'm going to have to shell out the bucks for the Pro version and create my own color profile if I want to use the \"N\" .0
