Why so long to delete the first time?
After I have opened CO 4.x I sometimes want to delete some files. When I push the delete button the first time, it can take 15-20 seconds before the file is deleted. After that first deletion a delete action can happen almost instantly.
Why does the first deletion take so long?

Please note that the delete function has changed in CO 4.5. Are you using 4.0/4.1 or 4.5.x? 0 -
I'm using 4.5 but the phenomenon existed in previous versions. 0 -
If your photos are stored on a separate drive than the trash folder you may get the initial slowdown because Windows is reading the drive structure first. I have some issues since I have my .CR2s on an external hard drive. Once Windows reads the directory, it doesn't need to read again for subsequent deletions unless there is a long period of inactivity.
I've said it before, but since forums tend to be negative, I really like this program and look forward to it's continued development.0 -
Many thanks for your explanation. My configuration explains the delay.
I identify with your remark about the negativity on the forum. I really appreciate the results from CO and find that it's best way to accommodate my workflow. I am used to the complainers and just continue to use the program with appreciation for what it does.
