Spot Removal Limitation
Hello,
Having recently switched completely from Lightroom I have finally ran into a surprise with Capture One (windows): spot removal limitations. I read in the help manual, https://help.phaseone.com/en/CO11/Editi ... aspx#item2, that it is limited to 100. I'm just curious on why? I had one incredible dusty/spotty lens and with 7 more spots left I was stopped in my spot-stomping tracks by this limitation. Any tips? I am going to go back and use healing brush for some areas and make some larger than others. I am just more curious on why there is a limitation to begin with? Technical or just philosophical. And, I do realize that I should probably clean the lens more often.

Clean the lens or the sensor?
Unless scanned from film or prints, dust spots are typically sensor related in most situations.
The 100 limit is probably mainly technical in that performance levels are likely to take a hit on the one hand and in any case once you have such a large number to deal with many people who notice and care about such things (i.e. professional and serious enthusiasts in the main) are likely to have alternative retouching tools that they would turn to well before hitting 100. So a little philosophical too perhaps.
Have you investigated using the LCC tool as a dust removal option? Historically that may also have been a preferred route for C1 users. Or course you really need to have create the sample before of during shooting but for dust alone, assuming the worst woudl not move around too much on the sensor, it might still be viable.
HTH.

There was a recall for the D600. Did you get the shutter assembly replaced?
The original was famous for splashing too much lube and dirt around.
Worst case scenario, clean it every now and then.
Also a little tip: Don't use too much highlight recovery on your B&W shots.0 -

Thank you for your reply! Yes I did do the replacement but I think that after that trip.0
