How to synchronize catalogs and images between 2 computers
Hello,
I use 2 computers : a wuindows 8.10 workstation and a MacBook pro for on location and tehter shooting. I edit images on both computers depending of the circumstances.
Want I would like to do is to synchronize easily and automatically images and catalogs between the 2 computers. I need to have the raw files on both computers because I edit them on both computers and some editing can't be done only on previews. What I would like to do is that if I edit some images on, for instance the macbook pro, the editing is updated on the windows workstation when I'm back home, images deleted on the mac are also deleted on the windows catalog. I would like the latest version of image editing to be taken in both catalogs once synchronization done.
I hope I'm clear enough...
Thanks

I generally consider sync to be a can of worms - to be avoided at all cost.
Thus a suggestion for your consideration:
- Run the Windows version of CO7 on the Mac using Parallels
- Keep your images and CO7 Catalog on an external hard drive
- Connect the hard drive to either of the computers. No sync is ever necessary.

Effectively that seems a good solution. But doesn't it slow down the editing to run a catalog from a external HD ? Even a USB 3 HD ? 0 -
Not in my experience. It should be easy enough for you to investigate for yourself before committing to the whole shebang.
I use the method myself and never notice any performance penalty. Syncing on the other hand is certain to cost you hours, not to mention grief.
Cheers,
