DNG Support
I was recently asked to produce files from someone else's shoot. It had been shot on the IQ140, but exported to DNG format. When I looked at the job in C1, the exposures were all over the place. I needed to add 1.8 stops and do a bunch of color correction to get in the ball park of the reference jpegs. This varied by folder/setup. Although there were CaptureOne folders in each of the source folders, any previous settings were ignored. Opening the same files in Lightroom, showed reasonably well exposed images with neutral color.
I don't know why someone would export a shoot to DNG, and not examine the results before shipping. As well, I don't understand why these files were rendered so poorly by C1 given that they were originally produced in it.
If anyone has had a similar experience, or knows the secret formula to rendering these files properly I'd like to hear about it.

Maybe...
... the images were imported into Lightroom and converted in Lr (during import or later) and adjusted in Lr. Adjustments to DNG are stored in the DNG file, hence they show nice in Lr and the reference jpegs.
Once opened in CO6, the DNG file first get an generic DNG to start with, and no corrections made in Lr because CO6 does not read or applies these adjustments. This may explain that you need to adjust all images from the start.
All the above is just an assumption. Bottom-line is that once converted to DNG and adjusted in Lr, you'd better stick to Lr (or ACR in PS) and leave CO6, from a workflow point of view.0 -
I had considered something like that. The jpegs were produced in Capture One. The DNGs do not show what software produced them. When opened in Lightroom, the DNG files are properly exposed and neutral but don't have any of the color or curves of the sample images. I can't imagine that they would have been shot at minus 2 stops, given the final look. 0
