C1 v3.7.7 preferences auto-update - how often?

Hi - I was hoping someone from Phase could answer this question, which I get often:

When does C1 Pro auto-update the plist containing info about "favorite" folders? (It seems to be the "com.phaseone.application.captureonedslr.plist").

Sometimes when I restart after a crash, only 1-2 folders are missing; other times, I have to re-add a dozen or more.

I DO know that quitting the app will update the plist, and I make a habit of that.

It's more an academic question - how often (or when, if not "time-based") the software updates the .plist file itself.
