Metadata problem when move pictures
Hi,
please find below the description of my problem (support ticket opened).
In fact when i move pictures from outside to inside a catalog XMP sidecar are not moved so i lost metadata.
Somebody have this problem too ?

I have a little problem, i am trying to add complex metadata with Photo Mechanic (lot of key words with keywords library, Capture One don't do that).
I work always with my pictures inside my catalogs so to make my modifications with Photo Mechanic more easily i move with Capture One pictures from the catalog to a temporary folders, i make modifications, everything is OK. When i move back my pictures from temporary folder to inside the catalog some metadata like color tag are lost.
I have do a lot of test and here the conclusion :
- Pictures are inside the catalog, i put color tag, everything is ok.
- i check the XMP sidecar file inside the catalog, datas are OK.
- i move pictures to temporary folder, all is OK. Pictures files and XMP sidecar files are in the folder outside the catalog. The XMP sidecar have all the metadata.
- i move back pictures inside the catalog i lost my metadata because Capture One don't move XMP sidecar from external temporary folder to catalog, Capture One create a new sidecar file inside the catalog.
I assume Photo Mechanic is not the problem, i have try without modification with Photo mechanic and same result (and Photo Mechanic don't work with XMP sidecar but with embedded XMP).

if you are using Photo Mechanic als DAM with Capture One
i recommend you to use Capture One only in session Mod.
Capture One has a complex Catalog modes " Session and Catalog "
C1 storage the setting files and XMp data not at the same places.
be aware when changing your Catalog to Session Workflow in C1 !
dont forget to backup.. and uncheck the setting signe when copy Original files .0 -
No, i want use Capture One as DAM but i make photography of equestrian events and i need a strong system to add keywords.
I mainly need to prepare before events keywords dictionary and have the ability to apply massively these keywords to my pictures. For other thing I use Capture One every day and i am very happy with it like DAM and to print my pictures.
Capture One is only not enough powerful for IPTC/XMP management with a lot of pictures.
Anyway i think tranfert pictures from folder to internal catalog and lose XMP files when do this is not a normal situation.0
