Importing tiff file

Pro 8 refuses to see and import a tiff file located on my desktop in a folder. I am using Mac OS10.9.5. Suggetions?

Unsupported TIFF standard?

Dimensions of the file? (i.e. very large panorama or similar?)

Can you provide any more background about the file?

It may have layers in it, flatten it, you should see it then.
