pricing and improving...
Yes, there are some really nice features in V12, and the UI has been improved.
But after upgrading for 159€ I can expect that the ?-/help-buttons are pointing to a NEW online help, not to the help-sites of V11. NO WAY 😡
How can I deal the new mask features if there is no online help?
Some bugs are acceptable in each new version - but cashing 159€ without a new manual is unprofessional.
And for the german users it would be great if this terrible mix of english and german menuitems and contents of the online help could be fixed soon 😕

Now they have priced themselves out of the running, no-one is going to switch to capture one when they can get both Photoshop AND lightroom for a lot less than capture one alone.
LOL I'm one.
I specifically started looking for a new RAW processor when Adobe decided they didn't want to sell me a standalone license any longer. I don't give a toss how cheap subscriptions are. I have no interest in buying software that way. I landed on C1. I am happy. If they should also abandon me and ditch standalone licensing I would be looking again.0 -
I dont expect a "guarantee" of upgrade price from any company, but when previous upgrades come at a around a certain price, its not unreasonable for the consumer to expect it to continue at a similar price unless there is a substantial upgrade which can justify a large increase. This is something Capture one has not had in version 12. To me this is pretty much what apple do, they release something thats only an incremental improvement over the previous iteration but to make up for lower sales, they just increase the price.
I suspect this will hurt Phase one in the long term as they are going to end up only having their original customer base instead of the new ones they have enticed over by being the "lightroom alternative"0 -

Thats the reason I switched, as I wanted to own the software outright. The Adobe subscription model has been around along time now so people using it are likely comfortable and will likely only want to switch if they are unhappy with adobe or want to save money. There are a lot of powerful alternatives out there now and its a competitive market place which is why I think Phase one are just nuts for raising the prices so high0 -
Wish I had an interface to Smug Mug 0 -
I would love a Smugmug Plugin - and have requested it. Not sure how big the demand is. 0
