What is the White Balance and Tint numbers telling me?
Hello;
I am using C1 PRO 3.7.4 with Nikon D2X NEF files. Does the color temp number and the tint number in the White Balance tab tell the color temp and tint of the selected image? I have always thought it did.
When I select a gray card image and do a white balance eye dropper click to set the white balance then select a second image and apply the white balance from the gray card image the white balance of the second image changes as I would expect it to. When I try to do a click balance of that same image with another white balance value the color temp and tint number does not change.
I thought that the color temp and tint number read the \"current\" white balance value of the selected image.
Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks for your help!

Bill,
No - the WB tool is not a color temperature meter
Setting the WB as you are is the BEST WAY to do this.
You will never ever convince me that an in-camera Custom WB or set K is better method. It is just way too easy to set this in Capture One, and often better.
Auto WB should not even exist as a choice because the results can be quite variable in value as it tries to determine a WB for each composed shot.
The key to efficient workflow is to shoot consistently with first image a true gray card target under existing lighting conditions and apply to all other images.
You certainly should be able to change WB at any time, even after applying a previous image's WB. So check this again.
When you say \"click balance' assuming here you mean the Eyedropper tool selecting within the image ?
Those values you see are as the camera 'saw' the K values
You will get consistent values by choosing a preset of Sun, Clouds, Flash etc. rather than Custom or Auto
Don't get too hung up on the #s, do you like the image ?
See Knowledge Base article regarding Kelvin sliders:

Hope this helps out.
