Canon 1DS Mark II color problems

I primarily shoot the Canon 1DS Mark II tethered to a laptop. I've noticed that the colors, especially noticeable on skintones, are coming in too saturated and too red, even though I use a gray card and custom white balance. Any advice on how to more accurately capture the correct color?

  Is your monitor calibrated to the camera and to your output/printer device?

  Have you tried Magne Nilsen's profiles for the 1Ds2? They may help. In the past this issue was often commented on as a problem with 1Ds2 files, many shooters expressing their discomfort with skin tones. I found, already with the 1Ds that Magne's profiles helped immeasurably, and they are very cheap. Have you taken a look at what some of your files look like in DPP, as this was often sited as a point of reference for color?

  There are several options to get the desired results consistently.
  Since you shoot tethered, you can actually make all desired adjustments to first image and then set Inherit from Last Capture at the Capture Tool.
  Now all image adjustments, including color, WB and Saturation will be applied to images as they arrive.
  
  1 - Using the WB Tool, you can establish WB and set it for tethering / or you can make Warmth adjustments and save file to be reused.
  Best if camera room is controlled setting.
  
  2 - using the Exposure Tool, you can adjust Saturation and save the file to be reused.
  
  3 - If you have the PRO version, you can adjust the 1Ds MK II camera profile to your liking with the Color Editor. This new profile can then be set as default.
  
  4 - purchase a 3rd Party Profile, i.e. http://www.etcetera.cc/pub/index.php/ar ... rontpage/1
  
  http://www.jfilabs.com/
  
  Of course good color starts at the capture.
  I think you will get better and more consistent results by avoiding Custom WB.

  DPP is Digital Photo Professional, the Canon Raw conversion software that came with your camera (check for a more recent version, together with Eos Utility).
