Banding and Shadows blocking up on export
I have a black and white portrait where I can see drastic banding and blocking up in the shadows in the exported files. Even when exported as 16 bit TIFF and in ProPhoto color space the artifacts are present.
C1's own screen rendering of the image (a D800 NEF) looks fine and even a simple screenshot of this shows good transitions and no blocking up.
Here is the image how it looks when exported:

And this is a simple screenshot of C1:

Check out the area under the jaw, the line where the shirt runs over the chest and also the background on the left.
What's wrong here??
(Lightroom 5.x BTW renders and exports the file without banding & blocking up as well.)

If your using a catalog then try re-importing the tiff and then exporting it again. I have had similar issues and I think its related to a bug I have raised with support. (It may effect sessions too but I haven't tested them) 0 -
Problem solved - more or less ...
It's Open CL output rendering that causes the problem. In the Preferences turn Hardware Acceleration - Processing to "Never" and all is fine (besides longer export times ☹️ )
Hopefully Phase One will improve this so that there are no compromises in quality when using Open CL output rendering.
Thank you to Phase One support for the quick help.0 -

Thomas,
Is this OpenCL issue specific to a version of OSX?0 -
I have no idea. I am using Mavericks. 0
