Application Freak out

I'm a C1Pro user, but just installed C1.4 for mac for DNG support. After installing the program and activating it with my C1Pro license, it routinely hangs up, meaning that I try to select a button (any button) and it just causes my system to beep at me as though I've made an error. None of the buttons are useable but I can reposition the window. The Quit selection in the File menu is grayed out, the lens calibration is grayed out. I have to Force Quit from the Finder. I haven't done this repeatedly to diagnose when this occurs, but it happened after I mounted a CF card shot with my P25. This is repeatable. The program will work fine, then I mount the CF card and it hangs up like this. Any ideas?

Also, any idea how to make a lens calibration? Is it always grayed out? Can I have C1P-3.7.8 on the same computer? Is there a problem with prefs being shared? I see 2 folders in my Application Support folder: Capture One (which appears to be the C14 folder, and I note there's a sub-folder labeled LCC profiles, so I assume I can LCC profile in C14) and a PhaseOne folder, which has all of my profiles and color corrections over the last year from C1Pro3.7.8.
I'm running 10.4.11 on a 2x3Ghz Dual-Core with 4G Ram.

You can use CO3.x and 4.x next to each other on the same computer, even at the same time, or at least you should be able.
Your description of Application Support folders and its relation to CO3 and 4 is correct. Yes, you can apply LCC in CO4, although this is not yet the Pro version. I just did it for a P25 image.

So, how do we get it running in your machine? Maybe you can delete the Capture One.col file in Pictures/Capture One Library. CO4 will create a new one during next start. Sometimes this file becomes corrupt and crashes the application.

If that does not help, please provide more details of what happens when.
