restoring badly faded photographs
I have a badly faded photograph the I am trying to restore. Is there a C1 tutorial for restoring photographs?

Not that I'm aware. I doubt if Phase One has thought about C1 in that sense.
Question: are we talking colour or B&W photos?0 -
Thank you, talking color.
It is so badly faded that there are no colors in the scene. It looks like a washed out B&W.0 -
No colors at all even if you turn the saturation controls all the way up? Then you'll probably need to work with a graphics app such as Affinity or Photoshop. 0 -
Thanks, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. 0 -

Well, that depends on how bad the colour is. I've had some success by selecting Red, Green and Blue mode under Channel mode in levels preferences. If there's colour in the image and it's mainly a matter of one colour having faded more than the others, that will help.
On the other hand, if the colour's basically gone, you can convert to B&W and get some good results. I recall one family photo where really, all that was left was red - but the B&W image was surprisingly good.
I guess you could do all sorts of things in Affinity Photo or PS, but it's beyond my skill level.
Good luck.0 -
Thanks for the suggestion. I came to the same conclusion to go black and white. As it turned out, there was no color left in any part of the image except from where it was covered by the matte. There were some areas that were originally red but, by the time I got the image they were black. 0
