I agree, rendering(on a pretty fast Mac Pro) is terrible, even for just plain JPEGs. ExpressionMedia was nearly instantaneous. It really is bad enough for me to switch to another application, if I could conveniently convert my vast library of catalogs.

Why not just stay with Expression Media?

IMHO (being a newbie), you can easily solve this problem by allowing EM to generate previews. It's what I did and now rendering is instantaneous.

It can be done (if I remember well) by Action - Elements regeneration (Cmd or Ctrl B). It takes some time, and naturally inflates your catalog, but then you come back to a quite fluid experience as in EM, where this option was perhaps the default one.

    Hope this helps

Rendering is not the same as a pre-generated preview.
However it could be a interesting alternative for NNN634597785623246275 (name?) now the catalog may exceed the old limit of 1,8Gb.

OK, I agree that the light table rendering is slow for raw files, contrary to the preview.

Thanks for having pointed this out.
