Capture One 7 vs The World
Long time Lightroom/Photoshop user here. After comparing simple raw conversion of LR vs C1, DxO, and PhotoNinja, my conclusion is C1 consistently out performs the others. So I bought the Pro version and am now a committed user!
However. I do notice the C1 7 is consistently worse than the others where foliage is involved. It makes trees and plants look "muddy", harder to differentiate the individual leaves, etc. I have looked at many, many images with my D700, and new D800, as well as a Fuji X Pro 1, and it is the same thing.
In most situations I can fix this, either in C1 Pro, or Photoshop, where I do all of my sharpening anyway. But the default is not as good as it should be, in this regard...

What adjustments are you using to correct this? The first thing I might try is adding structure in the clarity tool. 0 -
Good suggestion.
I was, however, referring to the defaults for each raw convertor. Did not make that clear enough, sorry.
I did try using the shadow slider in the high definition tool, but that affects the entire image, since I can't seem to make it work with a mask in the Local Adjustments...0 -
In local adjustments, you will notice that only certain tools have little itty bitty brush next to the name of the tool. Only the tools with this little brush are adjustable in the masked area. You will also notice that if you click on the little downward triangle on these tools that there is a menu option "Adjust Selected Layer".
This is why I recommended trying clarity, it can be adjusted in just the selected area as opposed to universally.0
