    Ok:
Running 4.5 Pro on Macbook Pro, 2.16, C2D, 4 GB etc. Leopard (latest)

    Next to 3.7.9 this update.....is...s...ss....slow!
Previews take a while to show (focussing...) and adjustments are hanging. Are these known bugs? Are there going to be fixes?

The simplicity of the interface from 3.7.9 was one of the best things about C1 Pro, meaning a superfast workflow with sessions was second nature. What's happened in 4.5?Am I missing something? I really appreciate the new features, especially with the colour pickers etc- there's a lot going on there - but in reality the workflow was always the most important aspect of this program. Pros mainly want software that just gets out of the way and lets you capture/process/file efficiently and move on to the next job - most of the add-ons here seem to be for the tweakers. Can't this be simplified? or left in C1 4 (L.E)?

I miss tools like the previous focus pane which seemed to really make sense, as opposed to what we have now. There seems to be less customisation in the toolbar.

Look, I know there's always a lot of moaning when updates like this are (finally) released, often along the lines of "it's not the way it used to be" or "why have you changed MY program?!" etc, but the fact is that a lot of people who use this software all the time feel a little left out of the loop on this one. No Matter how it's dressed up, there's no escaping that C1 4 Pro seems like a step backwards, at least from an interface look and feel point of view, when alternative RAW processing software seems to be evolving and maturing. IT actually feels and responds in some ways like Aperture's 1st release, which was sluggish and confusing at best. Apple may have sorted themselves out there, and have a program that does the essentials well enough. Not amazing, but good enough.

Is it that in chasing a feature rich do everything software ideal, that Phase One have forgotten to ask their loyal users what is important to them and instead just jumped on the coat tails of the Lightrooms and Apertures of the world and produced Capture One 4 Pro?

Under the bonnet, the processing looks and feels great, and appears to be as advanced as we are led to believe. Nobody can take this away from Phase One, but the fact that this software now seems uncertain of what it wants to be means that for every day tasks and processing, I'm leaning towards quicker more efficient sotware. It's a shame, really, as I always thought of Capture One as a market leading product. Now there are other accomplished (and Cheaper) alternatives, I find I'm no longer fussed or excited about these update releases.

...just thought I'd have a moan

I'm with you for the most part, but i think with a little time it'll be second nature again. We didn't really bother with C1 4 LE as is really didn't like our network drives, so I'm not used to it. I spent a little time in it today but due to the pauses, a few freezes and a couple of crashes i think we'll leave it until it matures a little. Look forward to using it when it does though.
