Variants in Catalog vs Sessions

In CO6 Pro sessions, an unwanted variant could be deleted with a tap of the delete key on the keyboard. In CO7 catalog, the same keyboard stroke will delete the image without putting it into trash (but it politely warns you that it will do so). How do I delete a variant (and not the image) when using catalogs?

  Hmmm ... it seems to work as expected (del key to remove a variant) when "Primary View" is selected rather than "Multi View". Carry on.
