Catalog set bug - 1st set name propagated to whole catalog
Hi. Sorry about the username. No idea how that happened!
Here's the problem: I have a series of category set names but whatever set is the first in the list, automatically has its name linked to all images in the catalog.
My sets are taxonomic so the first set was animals, with child sets below.
Another set in the same catalog is "Plants," but all plant images list "Animals" as their first order category, even though they are not in that set.
I tried deleting the "Animals" set after moving the contents out. "Amphibians" then became the first of the sets for ALL images in the catalog. Everything (Plants and Mushrooms included!) now lists "Amphibians" as the first order category.
What's the deal with this? I'm putting lots of time into organizing thousands of images and am pretty concerned. Is there any sort of workaround?
Nick

Hi,
We would need to know a bit more about the steps you took to get the keywords assigned. You are now describing a state, which doesn't give too much info on how you got there.0 -
Thanks for the help with this.
I recently imported a catalog from iView Media Pro 3 and everything went well. It has been a few years since I used it since the network bug was a stopper.
So I now simply drag images from the thumbnail view to the appropriate category set. I have added additional categories since the import. I do not recall this issue in the prior application. There are currently 6 category sets and each has verying numbers of category subsets.
The very first catalog set of the 5 - root level set name - gets propagated to all images in the entire catalog regardless of whether they have been assigned to any category set or not.0 -
This problem disappeared when I changed all tags to hierarchical keywords. Much better for taxonomies. Thanks syncrasy! 0
