Delete function still not quite right (IMO)

Well, the delete function is better than the beta in many ways - now you can delete with a single press of the delete key and no awkward prompt, and the selection moves to the next image, which is great. BUT - and it is quite a big "but" for those of us who are trying to work through a lot of images quickly and will occasionally decide to go back and undelete an image - this v.4 delete function actually deletes the file from the folder, rather than simply adding a "trashed" suffix! So you are going to have to go into the recycle bin manually (assuming you haven't since emptied it) in order to undelete something...

I think the version 3 procedure was much better in this respect - but at least we have some of the speed of use back.

  Andrew, this issue is one of many that I raised during the beta period. Well, the beta period is over and we have lost the battle. For those of us who spent the time and money to incorporate C1 v3 into our daily workflow, it's a total sell out.
  
  V4, as most everyone by now understands, is not an improvement to v3. It will, however have certain appeal to the photo enthusiast who decides he's going to shoot his 5-year-old daughter's birthday party in RAW, just to see if the pictures are any better than in JPG mode. This is the market Phase One wants to tap.

  I don't know that v4.0 is necessarily worse. There are certainly some improved features in 4.0 versus 3.7.7LE, such as the high dynamic range sliders, the better auto exposure settings, faster previews (with dual core or quad core processors). And this delete issue HAS improved since the beta but it is still not quite right. At least it is now as quick as 3.7.7 for deleting but it is just too extreme/ hard to recover.
  
  I like 4.0 well enough to use it (I can't say that of the beta). The main outstanding issues I have are with the over-extreme delete and the file management (I would like develops to automatically go into a sub-folder of the relevant RAW files). Also the previews are too blurred (unsharpened?) at certain settings. Those are downgrades on 3.7.7LE but the rest is an upgrade IMO.

  I prefer the 3.7-Mac way of doing it, instead of appending a .trashed suffix, it moved it into a Trash folder that was underneath the Captures folder. To retrieve, you just clicked the Trash folder under the collection while in C1 and it displayed whatever was in there, and you drag the missing file to the Capture folder.
  
  At archive time, I just deleted the Trash folder.

  The program allows one to work in this manner.
  - Select RAW folder
  - Make a subfolder Trash- Set as Move- To
  - Browse images Delete unwanted and Move those you want a 2nd chance at.
  
  This method worked great for My Daughter's Birthday images 😉
