Multiple editing bug
I'm trying to edit a selection from the browser, with multiple variant editing selected then apply adjustments.
Say I select three images, hit auto exposure, they all adjust slightly as expected.
If I add a vignette, it only applies to the selected (thick bordered) image if I undo I get a pop-up saying this will reset all three selected images. Even though one image actually changed vignette. The undo works. If I add a curve, clarity, HDR, levels adjustment then they also only apply to the thick bordered image despite having three images highlighted and multi-variant toggle on. I found this in 10.1, upgraded to 10.1.1.5 with no fix.
Either I'm a numpty or this is a bug.
Perhaps unrelated, I'm also trying to send three bracketed 'process recipe' 16-bit TIFFs (Sony A7Rii uncompressed ARW) to both photomatix Pro and Aurora 2017 (latest) and C1 only generates ~256MB black tiffs that OSX can't recognise, not can the HDR apps. It works at 8-bit, but not 16-bit ?!? (They export as PSD, but not OSX readable TIFFs which is odd)

Two things.
For some edits - usually simple things like colour or rating, keywords, etc. - if you have the "Edit All Selected Variants" option toggled ON, all selected variants will be adjusted. If Off, only the one with the thick white outline will be active.
Some edits could be very demanding of resources if attempting to edit many selected in real time with every move of a slider. For that sort of activity only the currently highlighted Primary variant will be edited in real time. However if the "Edit All selected ...." option is active you can immediately copy and paste the adjustments form the edit file to all of the others selected should you wish to do so.
You may know this but I can't readily tell from your description. If you do know about it just ignore this post.

Grant, Thanks for replying. I'm trying to figure this out and suspect its a mindset difference from Lr. I understand the toggle and its effect. However I'd suggest the inconsistent behaviour on what is propagated live and what isn't. There is no interface indication telling you what the software has decided and the toggle leads you to believe ANY edit will propagate.
I understand perhaps the reason i.e. Danger of building a huge stack of adjustments with every slider whang on multiple fat RAW files is perhaps a problem (on lighter systems). Is this is just the way it is then i'll try copy/apply adjustments method to see if it sticks in my head, but there is an expectation mismatch with this functionality and given my system is barely moving eg. The auto changes apply instantly and nicely.
Still investigating the 16-bit TIFF file problem in OSX, looks like a formatting issue either between C1 or Apple, but its a pain.

Basically if something is writing to a value to a file and the image is not going to demand recalculation from the RAW file upwards to show you the result ... C1 can apply to all files as a simple write action. Hence rating and colour tag, for example.
If it is an edit change to the image which is subject to thinks like slider dragging adjustments (even if you choose not to use the slider) then it will always be a case of "adjust one" before batch processing the rest in a second simple copy action.
Yes in parts it is a different concept to most but is in fact really flexible and fast. It does require a little reconditioning of your logic processes if you are used to something different and that something is embedded in how you edit things - but take a little time to acclimatise and I think you will find it is in fact rather beneficial in most cases.

I'm open to adjusting workflow process for the superior RAW interpretation adjustment that C1 delivers. From a usability standpoint, it would stand C1 in better stead if Phase One sat 2-3 experienced retouchers (new to C1) down to run usability studies to learn workflow logic and foibles. I'm finding a few 'why did they do that' head scratchers and a few bugs that will put people off with a less perseverance than I. The image quality is something to behold, but the workflow/user signalling needs work.

There will always be things that may appear strange or are, perhaps, outliers from development work with older software tools - or existing major clients who are addicted to the process as (they?) defined some years ago.
The C1 development team are certainly open to suggestions.
You may find it useful, if you have not already done so, to watch some of the videos (especially those that capture the Webinars) that relate to matters of greatest interest to you.
I say that partly because you may identify things that are currently unknown to you that are helpful and partly because they may well help you to identify why something functions the way it does. From that point you could refine a suggestion of how and why it could (and perhaps should) be changed.
The best way to make an enhancement request (assuming you don't have direct access to internal influencers!) is via a Support Case with "Enhancement Request: <...outline description...>" in the title and a fuller description in the body of the text.

Well the problem is:
first i run autoadjustment (exposure) to 60 images. than fine tuning one image with highlights/shadows and curves and color editing.
when the "edit selected images" not work like it has do be working, than the only why is to syncronise after editing one image. BUT than my autoadjustments on every image becomes the adjustment from the main image for syncronising and all is wrong in exposure !!

You have the option to copy and apply one tool at a time and so keep your auto adjustments for other tools.
Or you can copy all edit changes from one file into the clipboard, make sure only the new values you wish to use remain selected, then apply what is left to the selected files.
You could also save the selected adjustments from an image (just the ones you want) and create a Style (or just a preset for one tool at a time) and use those styles and presets on other images.
However I don't think that Phase set out to claim that Capture One is intended to be a replacement application for full pixel editing tools like Photoshop and similar products. If you need and like the options that they offer they should remain as part of your workflow.
