C1 8 Pro and Windows 10
Hi,
this morning I got for the first time a message on the system tray about the forthcoming update to Window 10 which is offered for free to Win 8 users. Is there already information avaliable about C1 running under Win 10 when it is released by end of july (as announced)? Or is it recommended to still hold back for a while until eventual/possible quirks are ironed out?
I'm fine with Win 8 so from my part neither need or wish to upgrade, especially not close to lauch date and as "beta-plus-tester", so to say 😊
But it's interesting to see this form of promotion of an OS update from MS. Is there anything substancial to gain in comparison to Win 8?

Is CO Pro 8 stable on Windows 10 - Yes
Is CO Pro usable on Windows 10 - No (from my experience)
See the image below. Exports - regardless of type, compression or quality - become soft. Colors also shift (which others have discussed). The reason I say it is not usable...
Even though the problem started while running windows 8, Capture One will offer little to no support after I upgraded to Windows 10. I was only offered the following:
1. It works on our system (Windows8)
2. Make sure the "Disable Sharpening" is unchecked
3. The program I am using to view the export is the problem (so the image below is viewing both in CO Pro8)
4. Find a Windows 8 system and show that it doesn't work.
4. No further support can be offered as you are on Windows 10
I requested additional support, and a screen sharing session to resolve the issue, or them to try it on Windows 10, and was told to wait for the next release, windows 10 support is in R&D and that is a different department.
For me, this renders the program as useless if I can not get out of it what I see on screen within it.
I am curious if anyone else running windows 1 has tried to export a JPG or TIFF yet?

I give you two links to download screenshots of a Win 10 Pro system with CO Pro 8.3.2 and Photoshop (CS5 by the way). You see them side-by-side (CO8 left) at 50 and 100%. AdobeRGB color space.
You are the judge. Not a single detail is lost in 100%, see the spots on the man's jacket. Highlights and shadows are extremely close.

Knock yourself out.
I do not recommend using Windows 10 until a CO8 update has surfaced that supports the OS, but if you are in the boat of Windows 10, I would not panic.
Oh, and by the way. I did use the Win10 Photos app to compare with CO8 viewer. Loss of brightness, tonality, and colors are significant as already mentioned in this thread. That is nothing new for Windows 10. That has been always the case as far as I can remember, although it has much improved over the years.0 -
firewall wont allow program to connect through port 45888 even though exception have been put in both for the exe files and the specific port. it will only work with the firewall turned off

The Phase One has some approximate date to release an update that makes the Windows 10 compatible with Capture One 8.3 ... ???
I have a big problem here, I can not use the Capture One for more than 3 minutes and it crashes down ... does not fail, Capture One works only for 3 minutes at most.0 -
C1 7 or C1 8 does not open in Windows 10 for me. It ran into exception and quit. This is a big problem for me. 0 -

Hi Jim!
Did not realize that a new version was released, I'm using the 8.3.2 version and every time I Launch Capture One, check for updates was always done automatically, but it seems that after I installed Windows 10, the automatic check no longer works ...
I will try this new version 8.3.3 to see if everything was resolved.
Thank you so much and Sorry about my poor English...0 -
8.3.3 for me need it to delete the old version 8.3 and reinstall to make it to function in windows 10
I also disconnect network0 -
Hello,
I'm using Capture One Pro 9 on Windows 10. It worked fine all these days until yesterday when I encountered an error while opening it. The problem was related to file named 'p1.modelcore.dll' Has anyone faced a similar problem? C1 guys, please help me out with a solution for this? Is it a compatibility issue?
The software was installed on 21st December, 2015.
Thanks.0 -
IS this a C1 V8 or V9 problem?
You write about V9 but have posted in the V8 forum.
I would suggest you create a Support Case with Phase.
There may be people using the forum who have seen this problem but, as a User to User forum, they may not have an full proof explanation or fix that will help you.
I assume you have tried all of the usual things like rebooting the system and so on?

It has already been noted in the v9 forum and it has been something that has plagued v8 and still isn't fixed.
