    Hello Ian

I am interested in your post because something has changed, and not for the better. I used to set up processing in C1 to save the tif output in the same Win7 folder as the source CR2 file. I can't find how to do this in 8.3.

Perhaps we are both missing something? Anyone else with a similar problem?

8.3 looks Processing looks the same as 8.2 to me.

If people are seeing something different then I think we need more information or you should raise a Support Case.

    Peter:

Process Recipe > File > Root Folder: Set it to "Image folder".

At least I think that is what you want from your description.e

Did you update your previous installation or install 8.3 in PRO Trial mode in a fresh folder?

    Hi Grant

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply to my post. Yes, I am set to "Image Folder". But I can't take this further at present - my computer is having an attack of the cobble-wobbles. I am going to have to wipe the C-drive and start again (been putting this off for a few weeks).

I may have another try with C1. But I confess I am having to move on. I find with C1 that it is too tempting to give an image an extra tweak here, and another tweak there, so that I lose its core tonal structure. Entirely my problem, my fault. You may recall that this Forum has hosted many exchanges on the merits of getting a good starting point for an image "pre-processed" in C1 before diving into PS, etc. In my hands C1 is moving further away from this ideal state of affairs. Perhaps I need a new super-duper monitor to help my ageing eyesight!

In answer to your question, these days I always remove all traces of C1 before I load up another version. In this case I loaded C1 8.3 in trial mode. And it works perfectly as intended, as far as I know. I think it would pay Phase to strongly advise this approach rather than simply loading up one version on top of another. (Yes, I know that theoretically this should be OK but I am not convinced!)

Keep up the good work - I see you are as busy as ever on this Forum.

    Peter,

I quite like clutter so I never (well, rarely) delete older installations of anything given the chance to keep them.

In part that is a habit from years of software testing (not for Phase I should add.)

When you say you didn't see a recipe do you mean that the recipe list was completely empty or that there was no recipe selected by default when you opened the Process tab?

Either way a moot point for you at the moment of course.

One way the list can appear to be empty is to inadvertently have the "Show Selected only" box ticked without actually having a recipe selected.

I am also wondering whether the complete removal of a previous installation might leave something in the registry for "recent" uses that could, perhaps, refer to a User created recipe that no longer exists - but that's a rather speculative suggestion.

Good luck with sorting out your PC problems.

As the OP I now reply saying that I have found it. Being a lefty I have the browser on the left which is fine but it resulted in the right side of the screen having items off the screen area. When I clicked the right pointing chevrons I saw "another" gear icon which, when clicked, revealed the Process Recipe. Before this discovery I had been clicking the large gear at the top right which said "process the Primary variant"

    thanks,

    Ian
