Is it possible to tether only JPEG and leave RAW in camera?
I am using Capture 1 to manage my photobooth tether, preview and print workflow. The software works great up until I get around 300 photos in a session. When I hit 300 - 400 photos the software and processer on my mac mini start to struggle and significantly lag. I am wondering, if I shoot JPEG and RAW, can I customize any settings in Capture 1 to only transfer the JPEGs to the capture folder but leave the RAW files on the card? This would ensure I have automatic backup of the shoot as well as significantly decrease the rendering speed on the images.

Or, you can create several folders in advance and change the capture folder every 200-300 files and so.
That´s what I do in a shooting with 10-15 different persons. And over 1500 files.
All keeped in the same session.

Capture One can not select between JPEG and RAW during tethering when you set your camera to JPEG+RAW. I suggest you choose one file format which suits best for your purpose. When you tether with CO6, your computer's disk is your storage location, no backup on the camera's card is done. It is in general advised not to have a card in the camera when tethering with CO6. 0 -
That's too bad about only utilizing one or the other. I wish my setup could handle RAW files at the rate that I shoot and process them. I will try creating sub folders ahead of time and see if that expedites the workflow and eases up on the processor. I have also been shooting with a card in my camera the entire time so I'll stop doing that as well. Thanks for the advice! 0 -
So LeAnne, when you had the card in the camera, did you notice whether it saved anything to the card if tethered?
I am about to do some trials tethered and try to print directly to a Sony Snaplab, do you have any other advice?

When I tethered with the card in the camera the files bypassed and saved directly to the destination folder. I was just informed that it is not recommended to have the card in while tethered but it did work well for me while shooting "photobooth style". When I hit the 400-500 image mark in the capture folder Capture One started to drastically lag and in through out the evening crashed about 2 times. The only reason I will still consider leaving the card in the camera was so I could continue working while rebooting from the crash. My assistant would remove the usb tether cable, continue shooting to the card, and I would re-set a capture folder and re-attach the usb tether. The unfortunate part of that is I would have to wait to view the images until I transferred them from after the shoot.
My Sony UP-CX1 just arrived in the mail today. I am currently setting up a photobooth style workflow with Capture One / EOS Utility tethering, Capture One live previewing, and Sony printing (possibly with the Sony software). I'd be happy to share my experiences and get some feedback from how you are using Sony software and Capture One. I should have some more info later this week when I demo my setup.
