Can referenced files be used with sessions?
I am finding moving between computers with larger catalog files to be cumbersome and am reconsidering the use of sessions. To me one disadvantage of sessions is that the image files are recopied into the session, that they are managed images. Since I have already imported my images that means I get two copies of each image. Is there a simple work around to that? Perhaps some way to use the store in dialog found in the session import dialog?
Thanks for any suggestions.

If you are not interested in any of the naming possibilities or batch "Style/Preset" processing options that importing into a session offers - then no, there is no need to import and create a second copy.
That said - why not, if importing from a disk based source to start with, just treat the original source as a backup location?
With the a most basic Session open just navigate to the folder with the images you are interested in processing and start processing them.
Making the folder a favourite simplifies things when you want to get back to it. However it is not a requirement of working with a session.
In reality the concept of a session is extremely "open" and unconstrained if you want it to be that way.
HTH.

That was very helpful.
I had thought I had to use the import file option and hadn't recognized the possibility of simply selecting the folder in the library panel.
that will be a great starting place for me.
I guess the import option is another way to get images off of a memory card or out of a camera.
glad I asked. this gives me a whole new insight into how to use C10 -

You are welcome Peter.
It is a very flexible system - or can be if that suits your needs and preferences.
I typically Import from card if shooting an "event".
For more random stuff I have a running "Session" that brings together odd bits and pieces - sometimes imported, sometimes not. So long as you are comfortable with remembering what you did and why for the really obscure random activities that suddenly become "important" it is a great way to function.
Other applications can live alongside of course, though I find I go outside less and less as versions move things on.
