Leica DMR -- red/black lines on right and bottom edges
When DNG from the Leica R8 or R9 with the Leica Digital Modul R (DMR) back are processed with CaptureOne Pro for Windows (I don't know about the other versions), random red and black lines appear on the right edge and bottom edge of the images. The lines are approximately 8 to 12 pixels. Several other photographers have reported the same.
Can someone at PhaseOne look into this and report back? I placed a bug report about a month and a half ago but didn't get a reply.
Thanks in advance.

Well, dont worry, I've postet several items since 2 months regarding problems with Canon EOS 5D converting RAW-Files with 3.7.3.
The only answer was, that they couldn't see any obvious issues.
I guess, that ....
Kind regards

jrgeoffrion,
When you experience a problem such as this your Triage of options are as follows:
#1 - Create a Support Case - where we work with you, analyze images; and Test along with you to duplicate the problems. We attempt to derive a solution or workaround. If determined to be a Bug - We and You report to R&D with Case History notes and image files.
#2 - You Know it is a Bug - Report It directly to R&D through Capture One > Help > Technical Feedback... ALL of these Reports get read and logged and very rarely will there be a response from R&D
#3 - Post at the User -to-User Forum and see if other Users have the same experiences, can provide a solution, or have figured out a workaround.
>>>FYI--> - I just did a search in Support System for R8, R9 and Leica and find only 4 Cases of which none detail the processing issue you are experiencing. If you continue to have this problem, I encourage you to Create a Support Case so we can work with you on this.

Keith,
Thanks for your reply.
I followed several of the options you mentioned. A bit of background... I reported the bug during the first beta period last year (in the beta forum) and then again via the Help > Technical Feedback menu in CaptureOne when the final release of v3.7.3 came out.
I will be creating a Support Case momentarily.
Thanks.0 -
Keith,
If you want to download a Leica DMR file, I've uploaded one for you (20Mb).

Keith, this is a well documented bug, and I can confirm that it also occurs with the LE version. It looks like a brightly coloured line at the right hand edge of the image and a black line at the bottom (in landscape orientation). It occurs only with the Leica DMR conversions. Ought to be looked into asap I think.

I also have these problems with DMR files, I have created an action in PS to get rid of it but it would be nice if they did not exist in the first place. 0 -
This seems well known. problem, and very important for many professionals. I hope Phase One will address this. It seems Tom Knoll at Adobe has stepped up to the issue, so I assume P1 will as well.
Thanking in advance

I thought that this problem was well known to Phaseone, and I am surprised to find out that it isn't!
It certainly limits the ability to use C1 for large batch processing, although I prefer it other raw processors for the DMR dng files.
Yup, black line on the bottom, red line with some \"speckles\" on the right edge... that's exactly it.
I haven't tried C1 on any other DNG's, though, just from the DMR.

osera,
Don't be too surprised ... As jrgeoffrion has done, he first reported to Beta Forum and then directly to R&D through Technical Feedback... these reports arrive at the same place - to Developers and R&D Testing. So I can assure you that Phase One is well aware of the issue.
Support on the other hand is made aware of an issue if Users Create a Support Case. Since no users have created a Case, we have not seen this issue. When a User submits a Support Case we test and analyze to the point it becomes a Bug, the Case gets sent on to R&D and Developers... or the same location as the other pathways. Once Support is aware, we tend to stay persistent in getting a solution to the problem.
Cheers,

Keith,
Would you know if the red/black line issue on Windows only has been solved with the latest release (v3.7.4)?
Thanks in advance,
JR0 -
JR,
Sorry, We truly don't know yet.
You may try the Release Candidate of 3.7.4 with your files if you have not done so already. It is available for download.
If you try it and the problem is still there, report in RC Forum and then wait until the Final Release as fixes are ongoing right up until release date.
Sincerely,

Keith,
I just downloaded the latest version in hope that it cures the red/black line bug. However, when I tried to install it on my new computer (this is the third time I re-instal CaptureOne in the last three months since I moved from an 3 y.o PC to a RAID 0 to a RAID 0+1 configuration), it says I've exceeded the number of activation. Whom and how do I contact to have this resolved?
Thx in advance.0 -
JR,
This situation has to be resolved internally. When this happens, create a Support Case and include the email of the Profile used for activations and/or your Product Key at:
Support Website: http://support.phaseone.com
I found your info and have created a New Support Case. Look to your inbox for it. Please respond with information and we'll take care of this.
Sincerely.
