CO8 keeps depositing a folder on my Desktop....

    Did you import your Desktop folder accidentally into one of your catalogs?

    It seems like your using a Session, maybe accidentally. In Session mode, CO puts a COxx folder next to the images. So, if you're opening images from your desktop, CO will put the CO82 folder there. It only contains the settings, previews and the preview cache.

    Did you open the images from your desktop?

    ....Yes, exactly that - Via Contextual Menu > Open with, I accidentally selected CaptureOne instead of ON1 to open a JPEG which was on my Desktop. I use CO8 exclusively to edit my RAW files which are uploaded direct from my Canon D-SLR and I use ON1 later in my workflow.

    I have now put the folder in the Trash and emptied it.
