New Camera Support Time?
I recently purchased a hot new camera (Panasonic GX8) and of course it's not yet supported by C1. Based on the Panasonic camera support in the compatibility lists I'm confident it'll be supported soon. My question is:
How long does it normally take for a new model to be supported by C1, usually? I'm not after specific times or anything, just a rough idea. The other cameras I've used (D700, D800) were already supported when I purchased them so I have no idea what to expect.
Trivia: gee I thought C1 was slow, but it's a speed demon compared to SilkyPix, wow.

It depends.
Firstly it is probably dependent on which manufacturer is producing the camera.
One might expect an early compatibility to Sony (for obvious reasons) and usually early efforts for Canon and Nikon offerings although with some revision later down the line as the bodies become available for lab testing.
For the other there is the question of availability of the body to the test lab (based on a local supply provided by the manufacturer), the time taken to test and refine the outputs (which may vary form one camera to the next) and then fitting in the resulting availability with a Software update opportunity.
Popularity of the camera may also influence where the device sits in a list of products to be supported.
In general I would say the typical period of hiatus has been about 8 to 12 weeks - generally in line with other RAW converter providers when they are not directly involved with the camera manufacturer.
Some are sooner, especially if the camera is an obvious professional market choice. (Canon 5Ds initial support for example).
Other may take longer (Canon M3 for example - but it has limited worldwide release to date and maybe some other constrained kitting options that perhaps give it a lower importance in the "ToDo" list at this time. I'm guessing, there may be other reasons.)
HTH.
