Btw. when just opening the macbook catalog on the desktop mac, everything looks just fine.
It is only when importing it into the mail catalog, that the duplicate situation occurs.....

It is my understanding that there is no catalog sync feature in the CO8 catalogs currently. Importing one catalog into another, adds images. If the imported catalog has been imported before, you get duplicates.

Another workflow is that you discard the Macbook catalog as soon as you have imported it in your main catalog on your desktop computer. Start fresh with a new catalog on your Macbook each time it is imported.

Thank you for the answer - and sorry for the confusion, i can see why my question could be misunderstood.

    I have 2 catalogs.
1 on my desktop mac at home/studio - this is my main catalog, containing all my pictures.
1 on my macbook, which is brought on location - this is my travel/assignment catalog.

After being on location i want to add/import the macbook catalog in to the main desktop catalog, so i have all the pictures in my main catalog. So no duplicates and no "sync" (bad choice of words).

My usual Aperture/Lightroom import procedure is:
    1. Open the application using the main catalog
    2. Choose import catalog/Library
    3. Choose the macbook library
    4. Everything gets imported.

Using C1P i do the same, using C1P on my desktop mac to open my main catalog, and then choose "import catalog - Capture One Catalog", and choose the macbook catalog.
It should now be importing all new pictures, and i get no warning of duplicates, which normally happens in case of duplicates, so everything should be good.
But i get 2 variants of all the images?

Now! - if i choose my user collection folder in my macbook catalog and choose export as catalog, and repeat the same import procedure, everything imports just fine.
But i would assume that it would be fine to import the macbook catalog, without having to export it into a new catalog first. That seems like an unnecessary step?

Unless i am missing some crucial part?

No, you are not missing a part. The workflow you describe is how it currently is. Maybe you can optimize by collecting all images since the last export/import action. A smart album with dates of images comes to mind, collecting the newest only. Next, you export that collection...

    Hi Paul,

Again thank you for your quick reply.

Great that this is the way that it is supposed to be working.
Too bad that it does not work then 😉

I will contact support, to see of they will see the as a bug or a feature 😉
