    srwilson,

There most certainly is not anything wrong withe 3.7.4 unless you installed and have both versions on machine, this can cause conflicts.
No error messages at all? Items just sit in the queue? No changes to system?

    Options are:
1> Program closed > go to
C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\C1 LE\\Preferences and within this location is the FoldersList.fld file With software shutdown, delete this file and then relaunch.
A Refresh of the FoldersList.fld file is a list of Process to drives and locations. Deleting it and letting it rebuild or refresh may be a solution.

2> Try deleting your Preference file.
    With program closed, browse to:
C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One LE\\Preferences and look for the Preferences.pf file and delete.
Upon launch of the program this file will rebuild.

3> this is the most certain FixAll...
Completely Uninstall and do a Clean Install of 3.7.4
Follow Knowledge Base Article # 1665
    http://support.phaseone.com/KB/Home/Sea ... nguageID=1

Try each fix separately and let us know which one worked for you.

    Regards,

I'm also tearing my hair out with the problem of 3.7.4 crashing the PC (it actually shuts down completely) whenever I attempt to use batch mode. No problems at all with 3.7.3.

I followed #3 - the most certain Fixall. No luck. A couple of observations :

It seems odd that an uninstall (of this type of software) would leave so many things lying around. Hopefully future versions will rectify that.

The knowledgebase article referred to a file c:\\%Windir%\\System32\\Drivers\\p1c1394.sys. This was not found, and there was not even anything like it.

The knowledgebase also referred to the file c:\\%Windir%\\INF\\p1c1394.inf. The filep1c1394.pnf was in this directory; is this what was meant?

Following uninstall of 3.7.4, manual removal of files and deletion of registry entries, and a reboot, the batch processing got a little further before the machine shut down. Note that I'm not doing anything different to what I was doing in 3.7.3. The only difference is that it worked fine before, now it doesn't.

No worries on those drivers, they are for Phase One Digital Backs, and if you never used one, you wouldn't have them.

If you have a clean install of program to default location of Local Disk C:, and use the local Disk C: for RAW image Session folder as well as processing to this same location, you should have no problems.
When using other hard drives, or server locations, there can be problems depeding on how these are set-up. If your system has these scenarios, a straightforward troubleshooting test is to process a batch all on local disk.
If problems continue, then it is also possible you have an OS issue or bad sectors in the RAM or on local hard disk.
    These should be analyzed.

If you cannot find resolve, then please create a Support Case so we can dig deeper and have a Case History with this issue.

Thanks for the quick response Keith.

I've logged a support call, #18790. No luck so far, although I would like to point out that this line seems quite antagonistic :

'We know from several thousands users that the 3.7.4 has no issue .'

I am not pointing fingers here - I simply wish to resolve this issue. Hopefully I'll have an opportunity tonight to rebuild the OS (as suggested) and see if that brings a resolution.

My current setup also involves installation to a G: drive (which is actually the boot partition for this install of XP), and a preview cache directory on a separate hard disk. I'll endeavour to simplify this setup for future testing.

    Scott Bird,

You are in very good hands with your Support Case.
Please Don't take the Case reply as antagonistic though.

This tends to be a more matter-of-fact reply statement to accomplish 2 things:
1- get user to look closer within their system, ...too often the program gets quick and unfair blame
2- prevent a Forum thread to 'cause panic' if you will... and have others misinterpret that there are problems with the program when there are not.

In Support we can query a specific problem, i.e. Windows+3.7.4+Batch Processing and search out all Support Cases that are similar. Sometimes when we find several Cases, it is our first alert that there may indeed be a problem. When we come up blank, or with very few Cases on an issue, we are more confident that the problem does not lie within Capture One.

    Sincerely,
    k c

    Thanks Keith.

Unfortunately the rebuild will now have to wait for a few weeks - and I will certainly update this thread with the outcome of that. A partial backup of the PC last night resulted in much more free space on the primary Windows partition; this didn't seem to have any impact. Following a clean re-install of 3.7.4, processing a batch still caused the PC to crash.

I'll happily admit that I don't see how a rebuild will help - the last rebuild was less than 3 months ago, and no applications have been installed for at least 1 month. The only changes to the setup have been Windows updates (which I imagine are quite commonly installed, and you'd quickly know if an update was causing problems) and the update to C1 3.7.4.
