Several questions-Aperture 3 past user
Just did the trial on C1 pro 8...love it so far and have been playing around with everything. A couple more days and I think I will pay for the registered version.
I used Aperture for years and the tool did a really good job transferring my Aperture 3 library over. I only had 9000 images and it took a little over an hour. My photos in A3 were referenced so it was not a problem with the transfer.
My questions are:
1. How can I get the variants or enhanced versions of the original photos to appear as a desktop photo?
2. Same question with the screen saver?
I can do both with the referenced original photos - but they are not the corrected versions.
3. I have the trial version now and after I close the program and reopen; the program makes me click : Pro and trial and then it will open and everything I have done is still there. Once registered as paid- I am assuming these 2 steps will disappear and when I click the icon it will open to the program?
4. It looks like the "Library" folder is in my "pictures" folder on the imac. Is this the folder that holds all the versions or variants of the photos? (similar to what A3 called the Aperture Library?
Thanks!

I forgot to add: I am running Mac OSX 10.10.1 Yosemite. 0 -
1) You have to export all desired variants in your format of choice, because they only exist as a set of instructions within your catalog or session. Then you can move them and use Apple's settings to make them your desktop images.
2) See 1).
3) The choosing screen will disappear. And everything you did in your session or catalog will still be there.
4) You can create your catalogs and sessions wherever you want. They will just work. You can move them, too. But CO defaults to 'pictures' folder. But, as said in 1), variants only exist as a set of instructions within your catalog or session. As long as you don't export something, it does not exist as a real image.
I never was an Aperture user. It just didn't feel right and powerful enough when I tested it. So I cannot compare.
Success, and have fun!

Thanks for the help.
Is there any way to export the varients in a group to a new folder so I can use with the desktop and Screen saver-- or do I have to export one at a time. I have a 2014 folder with 500 pictures I would like to move over to use as screen saver.0 -

Yes, just select all the variants you want to export, define in the process recipe the destination folder and all the other parameters (file type, size...) and you are done. You can also select more than one process recipe to export the same variants to multiple destinations and/or with different parameters.0
