    Just a note, you are aware (of course you are) that only the 17" MacBook Pro i5 (opt. i7) has an ExpressCard slot?

    Also, shooting to an external source is adding one more simple complication to an already complicated process.
    If the drive is not formatted properly, connected properly or otherwise a poor quality component you may risk losing captures. In my opinion you would be better off buying the 500GB 7200 RPM drive, shooting to it and then running something like ChronoSync to mirror the images onto an external for safety.

    I just find the laptop drives kinda sluggish. I may get the 250gb ssd (512 is an option now!!) and then back up to the externals. I wish Chrono would sync to multiple destinations....
