    JKane,

The Capture One Settings folder should contain the Previews, Thumbnails, and ImageSettings subfolders.
The ImageSettings folder contains .plist files that hold the data of all image adjustments. These should only be a few KB in size , i.e P45 = 4KB

Again, They should be tagged .plist
If there are full size images in there it is a mistake and they should be moved.

    keith,

i should have clarified a bit.

with the canon cameras im using (1ds and 1d2) the .preview files in the preview folder are approximately 1/3 the size of the raw file.

now with nikon d2x files the .preview files are approximately 3/4 the size of the raw file.

this causes the preview folder to be extremely large and is posing an issue with dvd backup and file management and storage.

is there a way to decrease the size of the individual .preview files in order to decrease the size of the preview folder?

    JKane,

The D2x Preview files are larger than most.
No, there is currently no way to adjust size.
Preview sizes started small and then from many requests became larger through the versions. The ability to set the Preview size has been submitted as Feature Request.

I can see where a large volume can cause a problem on local HD.
Older sessions should be archived and then removed.
But these Previews Do Not need to be backed up nor do Thumbnails either.
The ImageSettings folder contains all image adjustment data and is the one needed for backup and archiving. Previews can build as new and then .plist files will apply all adjustments.

    Sincerely,
    k c
