    Stretch,

The connection problem you are experiencing on your laptop is probably the result of a bad fire wire cable, or problems with the ports on your computer.

When using live preview be sure that the lens is closed before exiting live preview.

    Thanks for the quick reply,

The MacBook I'm using is a week old and the Firewire works fine when transfering files to an external Firewire drive. I am using a new Firewire cable that captures fine on my shooting station. But I will try a brand new cable just to be sure.

Regarding Live Preview, I do close the lens before exiting Live Preview. I have tried every possible way of closing out of Live Preview. This is a known issue that I have discussed with Rebecca Levitsky in support at PhaseOne. This was supposed to be fixed in this.8 release. They did change something since I no longer have to restart C1 after exiting Live Preview but I do have to restart my back. If you are really not seeing this anywhere else maybe my back has a problem. What steps do you want me to take next?

    Thanks, Stretch

    Hi Stretch,

You back may require the new firmware which should be releasing soon for the live preview issue you are experiencing.

Do you have connection problems on all computers? If so, call your dealer to troubleshoot and we can then create an RMA if necessary.

My camera connects fine on all of my computers except my Intel MacBookPro. Live Preview does not work correctly on any of our computers. Are others having this problem?

    Thanks, Stretch

    Hi Jon,

My MacBook problems are solved thanks to Chris Peadon from ImageLink. I was trying to shoot under battery power. Something I never had a problem doing with my Powerbook. When the MacBook is either plugged in to AC or asking for power from the battery all is ok. If I'm shooing plugged in I can keep capturing when I unplug but if I launch C1 when I'm using just the computer battery it cannot connect. Of course I will use the backs battery when shooting without AC.

The great thing is that Live Preview works! I can go into Live Preview, exit & take a capture. I look forward to doing that on my G4 tower once you release the new Firmware. Hopefully soon.

FYI, I am able to shoot teathered with my Canon 5D as well.

    Thanks, Stretch

I have got the same problem with a Canon 5D as I upgraded to Leopard and a Intel MacBookPro.
I can connect the camera and the connection shows in CaptureOnes window. When I press the Capture button, the camera exposes and a message tells med that the Raw-file is being transfered, but no image is shown.
I get an error message: "Did not suceed to receive RAW-image. Error ffffffdc"
I have tried to change the USB cable without any better luck.
The problem must be in the communication between the camera and the Mac.
Maybe the firewall, but I don´t know how to laborate with it.
Anyone who have a solution to this?

    Thanks
    /Tomas

    Tomas,

These are actually separate issues altogether. Stretch's issue has to do with the back not recieving enough power to operate from the computer. You 5D does not use bus power. My guess is that you are using Capture One 3.7.7. Update to 3.7.8 and the problem should be solved. if not see this article: http://www.phaseone.com/HOME/Content/Su ... nguageID=1
