How to display Original and Variant

How do I display the Original and Variant together side by side on the screen. As I make changes I can compare the unchanged original and the Variant as it changes

  Open the original (or create an original variant if you have already edited what you had), select both and make sure you have selected the Viewer mode to display multiple images.
  
  To see one overlay the other with changes, select to display only one image of the two images selected and then switch between them. Left or right arrow will do that on a PC - I assume something similar is available using a Mac.
