Copy adjustments between opened catalogs
In another thread, regarding copying adjustments between catalogs, a member wrote" I often work with 2 opened simultaneously and am able to do things like copy adjustments from an image in one catalog and apply them to image(s) in the other open one."
This is true, but I can not find a way to do this for individual adjustments or for metadata. It's an all or nothing copy/apply using the top menu Adjustments copy/apply dropdown. You cannot use the double arrow tool to select and apply selected adjustments as you would for images displayed in the browser on the same catalog.
I can't find a way to copy metadata between images in different catalogs or between images in different albums in the same catalog.
Am I missing something or are these inherent limitations of COP 12?

Yep 😄 On the aadjustments clipboard tool, you can select which adjustments and Metadata are pasted.0 -
Thanks, Eric. I would not have figured this out without your hint. It is not intuitive. Once you understand it, the clipboard is a great way to select any combination of data to copy and apply, kind of like a grocery cart.
The Good: For metadata and for specific adjustments, you can populate the adjustments clipboard by selecting elements from an adjustment or metadata tool, or you can select them directly from the clipboard one at a time and click copy and click Apply from the othert catalog's clipboard.
The Bad: Unless you set Autoselect to None, when you click copy on the clipboard, it unchecks the metadata boxes that were checked, but leaves the adjustment boxes checked. I am pondering the logic of this feature.

I think the Auto select is set to select only the most commonly applicable adjustments as a 'default - no need to think about it' case. I don't think most people would see IPTC metadata in that category.
There are also other ways so make the selections and copies.
Note there is only one clipboard active when processing. It's contents will be common to all open catalogues or sessions.
It may be worth observing that the Copy to Clipboard activity copies all available edited data for an image to the clipboard. The tick boxes of the clipboard control what will be pasted rather than what is to be copied.
I mention that because this nuance of operation is easily missed or forgotten and can cause some confusion when it is forgotten and things don't seem to be doing what one expected.
HTH.

Getting the workflow down takes a bit of experimenting. For those who are trying to figure this out, here is what I found:
The Copy button on the clipboard copies whatever is checked off on the clipboard for the selected (highlighted) image. The image from which the data are copied to the clipboard is indicated at the top of the Adjustments Clipboard check list. Select All does exactly that; it checks all of the boxes. The clipboard elements are otherwise populated by copying the data selected with an adjustment tool or the metadata tool or directly checking off the elements to be copied on the clipboard, itself. Select Adjusted appears in two places in the clipboard dropdown list and is a shortcut to select only the adjusted elements.
I find it easiest to set Autoselect to None and select Adjusted when I want to populate the clipboard with the adjusted elements. Menu Bar/Adjustments/Copy Adjustments does not copy the adjustments to the clipboard unless Autoselect Adjusted is selected.
Apply applies the checked elements to the selected image.
I did not see anything specifically labeled Copy to Clipboard, so I cannot comment on that.0 -

Its a generic term. However I should probably have written "copying to the Clipboard".
In the Adjustments Clipboard tool there is a specific function "Copy to Clipboard" which is intended to be used for Styles and Presets.
I hope that clarifies things a little.

Thanks for the help. Much clearer, now. More useful than the manual. 0
