Capture One is a 32-bit application where by a 64-bit processor would not make sence to buy.
Capture One does support dual processor where by it will take full advantage of both Dual core and Hyper Threading.
1Gb is plenty of memory for Capture One however you might want to go for more if you will be PhotoShopping.
L2 cache should not make that much difference (compaired to price!) when this is more for reoccuring calucaltion where 512kb/1mb should be more then fine unless you are planning to run the computer as your application/SQL/SNA/SharePoint server at the same time.

One last pointer might be to have fast harddrive and memory.

I too have been 'wanting' for more rendering speed.
I have just built a new AMD Dual core machine WinXP, 4GB, with 5 SATA II harddrives. One boot drive, 2 Drives Mirrored for data, 2 Drives Stripped for rendering to.

I am able to render 10 100% 16bit Tiff files from my 1ds MII in about 3.5 minutes- or about 21 seconds each.

The system is dual core so I suppose it appears as a dual processor system- Ulf, do you think there is any benifit in using a QUAD processor system?

How does this speed compare to your system Ikon?

Thats hard to compare - my Pentium-M 1.6GHz notebook needs approx 25sec to convert one *istD RAW to JPG.
(Yeah, it is faster then my 2.8GHz P4 desktop that needs about 35sec)

I think to really compare we would need to use the same RAW files and settings.

Just don't bother going to Windows x64 because C1 Pro doesn't support it ...
