Sounds like computer logs (Windows logs and possibly C1 logs) would be a place to start looking for anomalities.

Well, I do not have to manage anything, C1 simply runs. But those facing crashes should look for the logs as OddS. already said and if you can't interprete it's contents mail them to C1 Support for check. Under Windows the C1 logs can be found in the path C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Logs. The folders in this user profile are hidden but here is described what to do:

I would also check the graphic card driver. And BIOS version, mainboard and components firmware and all the usual fun stuff if you encounter a blue screen.

All  of my firmware is up to date including BIOS, other editing programs including games did not crash my system, only C1. I have the trial version and I am trying to fix this for days now. C1 customer support can't fix it.

Difficult to spot the reason. Do you use a tablet? Special gaming mouse drivers?

It can be so many things (could even be hardware, I had freezing Win10 on occasion due to a hard to detect nvme ssd issue earlier this year). Could be caused by C1, but also possible it only manifests itself when using C1. Chances are it is something with your system. But maybe not. Bad time to switch to C1 for you. You could give it a try with the next version end of the year, maybe updates on your computer and/or bugfixes in C1 will solve the problem 'magically'.

May be much too late now but could you try a System Restore?

You obviously know computers so this may have been below your radar!

Try to rule out the problem being hardware based . .Doesn't matter what other programs are doing. Start by swapping out your graphics card for another one that you have, if possible? If not then use the onboard graphics if available.

I do not think that this would be caused by CaptureOne itself.

My gut feeling would be more towards some HW fault (like memory, Power supply, Overheating CPU / GPU or the like). Overclocking the CPU, memory and or the Graphics card might also be a cause.

What do the Windows event logs, "Blue Screen" crash details show as reason for the system restart?

Some advice for identifying the cause:

my system is not overclocked, funny that only when I use C1 does my system is acting up.

My earlier suggestion was to troubleshoot the hardware first. Did you try using a different graphics card. Either one you have or the motherboards graphics. At least then you will know if it is graphics related. Try it, you have nothing to lose.

So far, I wouldn't care if it happens only when using a single program. The real problem may anyway caused by something else then this program. As Mike mentioned (but I would not limit it to the graphics card), it would be essential to exclude HW-failures (which might be just triggered by C1)

As long as you don't deliver more information about the crashes, it is impossible to help you.

    1. Did you try to check why Windows crashed based on the link (https://www.howtogeek.com/222730/how-to-find-out-why-your-windows-pc-crashed-or-froze/ ) I provided? What is reported as reasons / failure events?
    2. Btw., Microsoft has published some advice concerning the June updates for Windows10, which might cause a restart of the system, e.g. KB4560960:

"The Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) file (lsass.exe) might fail on some devices with the error message, “A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000008. The machine must now be restarted.""

Every time, when I try to adjust the brush size, C1 20 crashes. No matter by right click, or by clicking the drop down icon in the Layers panel menu. (Win10, C1 20 (12.1.1.31)
I+ve checked everything, mentioned above in the post and comments. I used C1 12 without any problem.
I think it is not a hardware problem, as other users had reported this issue of the brush using different PC config.

    Zoltan,

I think that it would have been better to open a new discussion topic instead of posting to this old one.

Additionally, your problem is unrelated to the original topic, where the computer (and not only CO) crashes...
