Editing JPG files

Hi, I'm new to C1. I downloaded version 8, to test. Once imported my old JPEG both from my Lightroom catalog and from mac folder after that I can't edit the files. I already tried to check and uncheck the option "Preferences"> "Images"> "Edited", but still can not modify the behavior.
Any help please.
