Levels Shadow and Highlight pickers missing in RGB mode

For some reason beyond my understanding I can no longer get pickers for shadow and highlight in the levels toolbox when in RGB composite mode. Switching to R, G or B reveals the pickers, but not when in the composite histogram. All the instructional guides show the pickers in RGB and I used to have them to - so what, please, please, please is the secret keyboard shortcut to get them back. Nothing in preferences.

  Preferences, directly or from the 3 dots at the top right corner of the levels tool.
  Exposure tab, 'Channel Mode':
  RGB channel -> pickers in rgb
  red, green and blue channels -> pickers in red, green and blue.
