4.1 to 4.5 update

Hi all

This is my first post here.
I have been using Capture 0ne. 4.1 for almost 30 days.
I went to my local photo store and purchased a boxed version but didn't install it right away. Last week 4.5 was released in the pro and Light version.
I was not sure if I installed 4.1 whether or not it would update to 4.5 or if 4.5 was an actual ugrade that I would have to buy separately. So to make sure I didn't get stuck with 4.1 I went to my local photo store to ask them if 4.1 would update or not and they were not sure so they directed me to the International Photo Expo which happened to be going on at the Jacob Javits Center here in NYC. I went and spoke to a phase one rep and he told me that it would update to 4.5 no problem. So I got home and opened the 4.1 box and used the serial key to activate the software and now 4.5 won't run at all. It crashes immediately upon starting. But I never had any problems with 4.5 until I "activated" it.
Was the phase one rep incorrect? is 4.5 not a free update from 4.1?
I have tried phase one tech support but all of a sudden that's not working.
Please advise.

  4.5 is a free update to 4.1. Your license is for Capture One 4, period.
  To recover from your crashes, start with deleting the *.col files from the your Pictures / Capture One Library folder.

  thanks for the reply. I have deleted the file you suggested as well as the preferences file for capture one.
  I agree that this should be a free update. My only concern, and I failed to mention this in my original post is that I did download the 4.5 update 2 days ago to try it out. It worked great without crashing. It was not until I entered the 4.1 activation code that the crashing began. That is what led me to believe that the code would only be valid on 4.1
  Hopefully deleting the files worked.
