Customize toolbar question

Hello,

an option on the View > Customize Toolbar ... is to show:

- Icon and Text
- Icon Only
- Text Only

However, whatever I select, nothing changes on the toolbar.
If I close the "Customize Toolbar" window and re-open it, the "Show" option always displays "Icon Only" (where I expect it to show the last selection I made).
I would expect this option to work the same way you can customize the Finder's toolbar in OS X, or am I wrong?
I read the section about customizing the toolbar in the online manual but this didn't help me any further.
How is this option suppose to work?

  It doesn't work on Mac.
