Has Gray output been removed from v4?
In C1Pro v3, one could output a true Grayscale image (processed to either the Gray Gamma 1.8 or Gray Gamma 2.2 ICC profiles, depending on what you had installed).
In v4, not only are there no Gray profiles installed by default, but when I add a profile to the app (Capture One.app>Contents>Resources>Profiles) and select it as the output profile in the Output tab, the files are processed as solid black.

Greyscale output has been removed from CO4 as far as I am aware in favor of B&W conversions in RGB. See the Effects profiles. 0 -
Hi Paul,
Unfortunately, there is no "in favor of". RAW data is always processed internally in RGB, and the Effects profiles have always worked as they do now. We just don't get the opportunity to write directly to a grayscale space any more.
The point is, writing directly to a grayscale file simply saves a few steps in the workflow, (a gray RGB file has the same data duplicated in all three channels, 3x larger for zero gain). It may not seem like much, but adding the step of converting from RGB to Grayscale and re-saving puts a serious dent in my workflow.
Is there any technical reason why direct export to a Grayscale Tiff is no longer possible?0 -
