great to see an increasing presence of P1 staff on the forums, especially after a just released upgrade of the software.
much appreciated!0 -
Just a question.
How do I install updates like 6.0.1 on the mac the correct way?
Do I really have to follow that "clean install" route everytime a update is coming out?
The clean install means deleting all the presets, plist files, application support folder, capture one library, ...0 -
The new 6.01 version seems to have resolved the crashing on Vista for me. I've had it running using it normally now for a couple of hours.
Many thanks to the PO team for putting this in place so quickly.
Edited to add: It appears I spoke too soon, it ran a LOT longer, but it just crashed after a few hours of use.0 -

For Mac I consider a clean install not necessary unless you had severe issues. You can replace the application during installation of the new release.0 -
In general (and in particular for maintenance/service releases) you do NOT need a clean install. 0 -

IMO you don't have to delete all the presets.

From the C1 folder in ~/library/appl.support ... I only delete the "batch queue" folder. But I keep my presets, LCC profiles, keyboard shortcuts, workspaces, styles etc. I also delete the preferences (the 2 plist files in ~/library/preferences) ... it takes me just a minute or so to re-adjust the preferences in C1.
I also delete the default session in ~/pictures (don't need it anyway).
Finally, in my experience a lot of glitches (especially performance issues) are related to proxy files. This is why I routinely delete all *.cop (preview) and *.cof (focus) files prior to upgrading.
Maybe also worth to consider... I have a kind of default session with just a few test shots. Before upgrading I open this session and first then shut down C1. Then I delete all settings of this session in the finder (i.e. in the respective session folder). When launching the upgraded version I first open this session. But this is just to make sure that an upgraded version doesn't contaminate an important session or important image settings.0 -
According to Lionel in another thread, the latest release mainly fixes issues related to Phase One backs.
