saved selections in PSE not showing

If I save a selection in a file in Photoshop Elements (6 and 10, at least), then open the .psd file in Media Pro (Mac), the area of the saved selection is not show in either the thumbnail or full view. All I see is a yellow mask. WTF?

  they dont care about anything except their P1 software and workflow. They dont care if we have other needs. this forum is basically a place for us to cry to each other and solve our own problems.
