Workable Nikon Tethered Shooting with C1-LE
Hi Everone,
Since Capture 1 doesn't support Tethered shooting with Nikons (so far).
I have a work around that works great. You have to buy Nikon Camera Control Pro $69 (the bad news), and use it to shoot to your computer, set up Capture 1 to look at the same file folder you are shooting to with the Nikon Software. In Capture 1 invert the current collection preview window so the new captures are at the top of the collection preview viewer using the change thumbnail sort order icon on the toolbar. (C1 defaults so the images are at the bottom of the current collection window and it is easier for the workflow if the preview is on top). After you shoot something new, press the refresh preview folder icon next to the rotate image buttons and presto you have an updated image running in Capture 1.
I have used this for the last month and it is great, images are uploaded to Capture 1 in 5 seconds ( I use a notebook with a AMD ML-40 processer, 1 Gig of RAM, Windows, USB 2.0 and a Nikon D200 camera)
One last tip, I move up the bottom of the Capture 1 window, 1/4 of an inch up from the bottom Windows tool bar, this enables the shoot buttons of the Nikon software to be visible at all times, you can scale C1 back on the right side in order to show the whole Nikon control panel (it is 3 in W by 6 inches tall) this will give you full control of most shooting controls.(Nikon's preview window is limited, so I minimize it and use Capture1 instead, which is vastly superior)
Using Nikon Camera Control and Capture 1LE together is the best of both worlds.
I hope the Nikon shooters find this useful.
