Canon Firmware Compatibility
I know there's a list of camera bodies and backs that are compatible with CO, but is there a list maintained of compatible firmware updates?
I am about to update a fleet of 20+ Canon 5D Mark II bodies to firmware 2.0.7, but need to know whether CO 5.1.2 is ready to accept tethered shooting from this firmware update. This is mission critical equipment, and I can't afford to have an idle studio day if CO 5.1.2 isn't compatible with the new Canon firmware.
Thanks in advance for your input.

When you tether your Canon DSLR with CO 5.x it registers the camera and checks for a compatible firmware. However, I am not sure how this works if you have a compatible firmware (say: 2.0.4) but a newer exists: does it notify you of the update or does it stay quiet because your firmware is OK. So far for checking within the program.
I had a discussion here recently on this ( viewtopic.php?p=38136#p38136 ). There are currently no reports here of any negative side effects of the 2.0.7 firmware of 5D mkII and CO 5.x tethering as far as I am aware of.
You could either ask Phase One for confirmation in a support case and/or start updating a few cameras to start with if you feel sure enough.0 -
Thank you, Paul. I had indeed read your earlier post first, before writing my own. Good information as always.
Drew (or Ulf, or anyone else), perhaps this is a good suggestion: to post a brief page somewhere that lists the latest camera firmware that Phase One has confirmed as working problem-free with Capture One. Just a thought.
Many thanks.0
